About Carrie Coltman

Managing Director of The Palo Alto Learning Group

Carrie has over twenty-nine years experience in the field of leadership and organizational development. For the past decade she has run the Palo Alto Learning Group, an independent boutique consulting firm specializing in executive coaching, leadership, team and organization development.

Previously, she was a Principal with the Tom Peters Group/Learning Systems, a Senior Associate with Interaction Associates and a Regional Manager for BlessingWhite. Having served consulting organizations for 14 years, she joined Adobe Systems where she started Adobe’s first Organization Development function and eventually headed up Executive Development, working with the top 1% of the company. As part of this role, she created a process to help integrate new executives to Adobe. Her last in-house corporate role was at Apple, where she worked as a Senior OD consultant, helping leaders and teams be more effective. Having worked both internally and externally in leadership development roles for world-class organizations, Carrie has a deep and broad background in organization development consulting and leadership development.

As the Palo Alto Learning Group, Carrie has worked developing a variety of leaders and teams at organizations such as: Apple, Altify, Airbnb, Apttus, Atlassian, BlackRock, Brocade Communications, The Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching, Cepheid, Chegg, Cirrus Logic, Cisco Systems, DataStax, eBay, Eventbrite, FitBit, Gap Inc., Google, Intel Corporation, LinkedIn, Lyft, Maxim Integrated Systems, Marvell, NetApp, Palo Alto Networks, Pandora, PayPal, Pixar, Rubrik, Trello and Waymo.

She is certified in several leadership development instruments including the Leadership Practices Inventory (LPI), the PDI Profilor, and the Lominger Voices 360 leadership assessment. She also co-authored a Coaching Behaviors assessment that was used in the Leader as Coach workshop. She is also certified in the Myers Briggs Type Indicator, the Strengths Deployment Inventory, and Team Effectiveness Systems. Carrie has her undergraduate degree from UCLA and a masters degree in Organization Development. She has served as a visiting lecturer at the UC Berkeley Haas School of Business and she has her Professional Coaching Certification (PCC) from New Ventures West. She lives in Palo Alto with her husband and two teenage daughters.
